Denise Ligon, of Corryton, Tennessee, passed away on April 2, 2024 at the age of 71. Denise was born Bonnie Denise Burrow on November 9, 1952 to the late SB “Tooter” and Bonnie Burrow in Grand Saline, Texas. Immediately after graduating Grand Saline High School she moved to the big city of Dallas, ready to start a new adventure. Denise married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Ligon. They were married 51 years. Denise lived in Austin and the nearby Bastrop area most of her life. The Lost Pines area of Bastrop reminded her of northeast Texas and felt like home. She had great taste in music and enjoyed the live music common to the Austin area. Denise also enjoyed attending touring Broadway musicals and seeing the Radio City Rockettes perform. She was a member of the Bastrop Audubon Society and liked to visit the Gulf Coast for birding, fishing, and fresh seafood. Denise had a natural talent for decorating, landscaping, and also enjoyed “antiquing,” especially at Round Top, Texas. Denise moved to Tennessee several years ago to be near her newly born granddaughter. Denise is survived by her husband Stephen Ligon, daughter Dixie Bamford, son-in-law Bret Bamford, and granddaughter Eleanor “Ellie” Bamford. She is survived by her brothers Stephen, Joel, Terry, and Scott Burrow and their families.
Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Ligon family and invites you to view and sign the online registry.
